Tips for Your Stay

High Altitude: You are staying at 8,740 ft. altitude. Take it slow! Drink lots of water. Listen to your body and rest when you feel you need it. Also remember, one alcoholic beverage equals 1.5 alcoholic drinks at a lower elevation.

Winter Road Conditions: During the months of October through May, we recommend a 4-wheel drive vehicle. Snow tires are an additional plus, but if that’s not a possibility, we recommend chains or snow socks. If we have a big snow storm, I-70 may require chains for any travel.

Weather: There are days that allow you to experience all four seasons in one day. Always be prepared if going into the mountains for hiking or adventures. Dressing in layers is always recommended. Take jackets with you, even if the current weather makes you think it’s too warm for one.

Snow: The road is plowed by our local Department of Transportation. Plowing operations start at 7 AM, but be sure to plan ahead if snow is in the forecast. The driveway is plowed anytime we receive 4" or more of snow.

Wildlife: You will see all kinds of wildlife which include fox, moose, bears, and even lions. Always keep car doors locked to keep wildlife out, and make sure to keep great distance if a moose or other predator were to walk through the grounds to say hello. All trash should be securely locked indoors (preferable), or placed inside the securely-locked bear-proof trash cans inside the shed (less preferred). Bears can smell food (your trash) from over 20 miles away.

Transportation

Uber / Lyft / Rideshare

Uber and Lyft do not service our mountain areas. If you are in need of a ride, we recommend John Osborne and his company, Ride. You will have to schedule your ride in advance, but you can contact him at (303) 564-5858.

Airport

The airport is usually over an hour by car, subject to traffic. I-70 is known for heavy traffic during certain times of the day/days of the week. If you are driving on a weekend, eastbound traffic could be congested. Plan accordingly when driving on I-70.

Off-Road

In accordance with the posted road signs, off-road vehicles are not permitted beyond York Gulch Rd. and Saddle Dr.
